Gary Sajko, DO

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Dr. Gary Sajko is a licensed Ophthalmology and Osteopathic Doctor.  He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1973 with a bachelor of zoology.  He then attended The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and graduated with a bachelor’s of allied health physician assistant. In 1981 Dr. Sajko graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine with his doctoral in osteopathy. Dr. Sajko then furthered his experience and training through internships and residency in ophthalmology at the National Naval Medical Center from 1981-1985. He is currently a member of the Tricounty Medical Society, Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and a Fellow American Academy of Ophthalmology. Before joining Suffolk Eye Physicians and Smithfield Eye, he was employed by Virginia Eye Consultants in Suffolk. He performs comprehensive eye examinations prescribing both glasses and contact lenses in addition to diagnosing and treating eye diseases such as dry eyes, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetes, etc. He works at our 2016 Meade Parkway location and is accepting new patients at this time.

 

PERSONAL:

Dr. Sajko was born in Johnston, Pennsylvania. Dr. Sajko currently resides in Chesapeake, VA with his wife, Alberta, and has four adult children. He volunteers his time and skills at the Western Tidewater Free Clinic in Suffolk as an Ophthalmologist.  Additionally, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, hunting, fishing, and flying (private pilot with instrument and commercial rating).
